About GetDebtFree.tools

GetDebtFree.tools is an independent personal-finance resource focused on helping people in the United States understand and accelerate their path to becoming debt-free. We build free calculators and write practical guides covering credit card debt, debt consolidation, snowball and avalanche payoff strategies, and the math behind every dollar of extra payment.

Why this site exists

The honest version: most "free debt advice" you find online is built to funnel you toward expensive products — settlement programs, paid coaching, predatory loans. We built this site to provide the opposite: free tools that work, fact-checked content, and zero pressure to buy anything.

Our calculators are open: enter your debts, see your real numbers, leave with a plan. No email required. No data stored. No "free trial" gimmick.

What we are — and what we are not

We are: a small editorial team building tools and writing guides about US personal debt. Our work is reviewed against authoritative sources including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Reserve, the IRS, and the Federal Trade Commission.

We are not: a registered investment advisor, a CFP firm, an attorney's office, or a debt management company. We do not provide personalized financial advice. Content on this site is general educational information. For your specific situation, consult a licensed professional — see our methodology for what we do and don't claim.

How we make money

We participate in affiliate programs with reputable debt-related services. When you click certain links to partner companies and complete an action, we may receive a commission at no cost to you. This never affects which strategies we recommend or how we present the math. See our full affiliate disclosure for details.

Our authors

All editorial content is created by named editors and researchers, with bylines and credentials disclosed transparently. Meet Xavier C.H., our lead editor and researcher. We do not publish anonymous YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) content.
